Every year, we at Salem UMC look so forward to Vacation Bible School. It is absolutely a highlight of the year as the children fill the church with energy and excitement as they learn about God in fun, creative ways. That is why, however, it saddens us so much to tell you that we will not be able to host VBS this year due to COVID-19.
While we do understand places are opening up more and more each day, we have come to this decision prayerfully, utilizing input from those in the medical field and from volunteers. First, we do not want to put anyone at risk—volunteers or children. And secondly, as I am sure you are aware, months of planning goes into hosting VBS, and with all the uncertainties and moving parts these last few months, it just hasn’t been possible to organize. We are so sorry!
Thank you so much for understanding! We miss seeing you all and hope you and your families are staying healthy and safe!
Children are very important to us at Salem.
At Salem we want to develop Christ-centered kids who make a difference. We partner with parents by providing resources and creating environments which help build a foundation in our kids’ lives, which only comes through knowing Jesus.
Sundays at Salem
As a parent, we know that you may have questions about what to expect on Sunday. We have provided some answers below to some frequently asked questions.
Where do we go?
All children preschool through 5th grade should be escorted by a parent/guardian downstairs to our Children’s Gathering Area (Room 107) on the facilities map. Our Salem volunteers will then greet your child and welcome them to our Sunday School time of fellowship.
What will my child do?
Children will share in a time of fellowship and then be separated into the appropriate age groups to dig into God’s word and apply his truths in fun and exciting ways.
Will my child be safe?
Children are in the care of our church volunteers at all times and your child’s safety is very important to us. We adhere to our Safe Sanctuary policy. Parents are always welcome to obtain a copy of this policy through the church office.
What if my child needs me?
Parents are encouraged to inform church volunteers of their whereabouts so that volunteers can retrieve a parent if the need arises.
